parked 8.20.11

where: parked, south street seaport, fulton st + water st
who: me + rob + ralphie + milano + geoff + kristen + her parents
beer me: ithaca apricot wheat

The heat and overwhelming amount of tourists aside the Parked food truck festival was pretty awesome.  We snagged an entire table on the stumbled upon Bleekman St and ate great food all day.  I love the Ithaca Apricot Wheat - just a slight fruity hint but an all around great summer beer for ladies and gents alike.

where: mexicue food truck
food me: smoked short ribs tacos + burnt ends chili slider

The smoked short ribs tacos were decent, but I found myself getting more of the cotija cheese than the delicious short ribs people rave about.  Bummer.  The burnt ends chili slide however - amazing.  Sad we only bought one to split - the green chili shined just enough to make it spicy, but not like burning spicy.  Totally hit the spot.

where: gorilla cheese food truck
food me: blt grilled cheese + mac&cheese bites

The bacon and cheese went together so well in the blt it literally melted in my mouth (ba-dun-dun-csh).  They also added grilled onions in it, which typically I would cringe at, but was a great compliment that added just a little sweetness.  I don't think I even have to talk about the mac&cheese bites.  Fried mac&cheese people!  Done and yum.  They surprisingly weren't too heavy - could have ate those all day.

where: red hook lobster pound food truck
food me: lobster roll - maine style

We actually had this same lobster roll the week before, but I had to have it again.  Hands down best lobster roll I have ever had - including up in Massachusetts.  Not too much mayo, just the right amount of seasoning and a whole lot of lobster.

where: big d's grub truck
food me: spicy pork taco + spicy chicken taco + bulgogi (beef) taco

Getting Big D's might have been overkill, but well worth it.  They are basically Asian tacos and basically really good.  It was an overall consensus that the spicy chicken taco was the best.  The mix of mayo - with what we think was chili powder, and cilantro made a great flavor combo.  The cucumber in each taco was also a nice touch to bring down some of the heat.

nap me: promptly after I went home and fell asleep on the couch - a quick yet effective cure for my food coma.

birriera 8.9.11

where: birriera, eataly rooftop, 23rd + broadway
who: me + lindsey + ozzy + trish + mary (work peeps)
beer me: southern tier hop sun
food me: cotechino - pork sausage with sauerkraut

I waited months for this place to open, then another month or two to get in and man was it worth the wait.  The place definitely looks like a beer garden with a touch of class - total Eataly meets beer ambiance.  My beer - super crisp with a light yet clean hop aftertaste.  The sausage had enough zing that I only dabbed it in the spicy mustard.  The sauerkraut - to die for.  Best I've ever had (don't tell Uncle Pat).

go burger food truck 8.08.11

where: go burger food truck, 25th + park
who: me + ralphie
food me: 'the turk' turkey burger

I'll admit I am usually more of a beef burger type of girl, but was feeling a bit healthy, so went with 'the Turk'.  I thought it was okay - the "herbs" in it just didn't rub me the right way (no pun intended).  I like a turkey burger just fine, but this lacked the burger flavor and didn't do it for me.

i'm back

where: http://beermefoodme.blogspot.com/
who: me (+ ralphie)
beer me: could use one
food me: coming soon

Almost a year since I last posted... sigh.  Between trying to document every single meal I ate out and attempting to take pictures on the worst phone ever created (yes, Droid, I am talking about you) I epically failed at blogging.

But now with the lovely iPhone4 and only posting what's noteworthy I am BACK with my more realistic approach.  The inspiration stirring from too many food blogs that don't just get to the point - was it good?  where did you get it?

Enough yappin... on to the food and beverages.

hendy wedding weekend 8.6.10 - 8.8.10

where: beau jo's pizza, evergreen, co
who: me + mauloff + gaboian + darby + tansky + katie + brian + eliza
beer me: was recovering from drinking away the fridge above, so just water
food me: salad + mountain pie pizza

The pizza here was seriously ridiculous.  The crust was wheat and you dipped it in honey at the end.  All the ingredients tasted like they were just picked out of a garden.  Loved.

where: the little bear, evergreen, co
who: me
beer me: boulder beer buffalo gold premium ale
food me: none

I had time to kill and thought hanging out here with a bunch of 50something hippies watching a band at 3pm was the way to go.  The beer was good and the band was like Fleetwood Mac.  So awesome.

where: rio grande, denver, co
who: me + colin + codey + jackie
beer me: lots and lots of water
food me: tacos de pechugas (chicken soft tacos)

Wedding was a blast, after party even better.  The next day I was so hungover I am surprised I even made here, let alone the airport.  Food was okay.  I was just happy I didn't fall asleep in it!

where: stanton public, stanton between bowery + chrystie, nyc
who: me + rob
beer me: abita purple haze + DuPont Saison Farmhouse + Allagash

We were two of four people here including the bartender.  We made friends, joined their beer club and got a bit a drunk.  Had quite the beer selection and we took advantage of it.
